Welcome
August 15, 2010
Dear Coach:
Welcome from the Greater Cleveland Basketball Coaches’ Association! We are very excited about this upcoming year. Each and every year, we work extremely hard to maintain a level of excellence that has been firmly established by previous board members; at the same time, we also closely evaluate our mission, and try to enhance and broaden the vision and boundaries of this association.
We are striving for 100% membership from both the boys’ and girls’ basketball programs in the GCBCA geographic region. There are many opportunities for area athletes and coaches available from our association, none of which are attainable without becoming a member of this association. By joining the GCBCA, you will also gain a membership to the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches’ Association (OHSBCA). We have the best basketball in the state of Ohio right here in Northeast Ohio, both boys and girls; thus, we should have the highest representation of any district at the state level.
NOTE: DO NOT SEND STATE REGISTRATION IN DIRECTLY TO THE OHSBCA – WE WILL MAIL ALL STATE MEMBERSHIPS THROUGH THE GCBCA. SEND ONE CHECK TO THE GCBCA FOR BOTH MEMBERSHIPS.
Our first two events of the year for the GCBCA will be our Fall Clinic and the Senior Showcase. The Fall Clinic will kick-off on Saturday, September 18th at Saint Ignatius High School from 9:00-12:00. We will also schedule individual speakers throughout September and October on random nights throughout the week. Check your e-mails and the GCBCA website for continuing updated announcements for these speakers. Our second event, the Senior Showcase, will occur on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Brecksville High School for the boys and on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at Independence High School for the girls.
There are important deadlines in this packet of information. We encourage you to use our website – www.gcbca.com – for further information and updates about the clinic and the showcase. Also, we ask that you continue to send all mailings to our association address, which is:
GCBCA/Saint Ignatius High School ~ 1911 West 30th Street ~ Cleveland, OH 44113
We encourage you to become as involved in the association as time allows you. Remember, you need to attend at least one meeting or one clinic in order to qualify your players for GCBCA events. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at sotoole@ignatius.edu or (216) 651.0222 X223. Good luck this season!!
Best wishes,
Sean O’Toole
GCBCA President
